my first four weeks

During these four weeks here, what bothers me most is, I found it`s really difficult to listen the native English speaker`s words, though I`ve made more progress than four weeks ago, it still is a big obstacle.
The class has made it clear why listening is so difficult. The answer relies on a couple of point:

1.      New vocabulary: some daily new words usually act crazy role in conversation, but I did have no idea at all, e.g. detergent, if I don’t know it, it will be really hard to understand my hostess` mean when she ask me something about washing cloth;
2.      Phrasal verb and idiom: some words are often used by me, unfortunately I don’t know the different use in another order, e.g. put up with so that sometimes I listen a sentence clear without understanding its meaning.
3.      Pronunciation: as soon as I chat with my Canadian friends, I come to realise how odd my performance is, this is not easy to correct, but I have to. Besides pronunciation, I should also pay more attention for these points: stress, rhythm, link between words as well as sentences.
4.      Grammar: tense, plural or singular number, both of them are not easy to master.

Anyway, I have to try my best to make good when I listen as soon as possible, otherwise I would not keep pace with the regular course in September.

The summer conversation had given me some good tips to my listening. Such as, watching movie,  learning popular English songs, acting some small drama, communication with others in English, especially I find out some new technology resource in internet, I mean, some website pretty suite me to self-study.
In my opinion, no matter what you study and how difficult it is, as long as you can determine two things, it will be done.
No.1, make sure your direction which is fit for you;
No.2,  chose the best method which is fit for you.
Anything else? Of course, insist on doing, to repeat it over and over again, never give up, then, one day, I will deserve my success, I am sure.

My classmates, I`d like show you a interesting web!

My classmates

Hi, my classmates, I would like to introduce one of my websites to everyone of you.
Speaking of our studying here, I am so glad to be together with you this month, my course will finish in next week, thus some of you will have to be seperated with me, however, anytime you can go through the website above, it can help you learn my work as well as some aspect of my life in China.
It is a cartoon maker assembly site which was initiated by me 4 years ago, we drew cartoon book for people that record some significantly remarkble things of thire life, e.g. their love story, their family story or something about their friends,  so far, it is popular in some youngsters, we have serviced a number of clients, most of them are Chinese. Though it is a small stuff, I do enjoy every step during these years.
I hope you will like it!

Thanks to all my friends, soon our one-month class will finish, now what I want to say can be represented by this song, seasons in the sun.
It`s a sooooooo nice song that whoever will be impressed and moved deeply by the beautiful melody and lyrics. The original author is Terry Jacks, a Canadian with a same age as my father.
The song describes a boy`s subtle feeling before he leaves his friends and family, he recalls the pretty happy time when he used to be accompanied by them, the wonderful poem express his sentimental moods, for example,
"We had joy we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the stars we could reach
Were just starfish on the beach "
Though it is Enlish song, different culture and costume, the lyrics captures some muturely common emotion of humanbeing, that`s why even nearly 40 years passed, it is still populor in the whole world, many pretty favorate singers reperform it again and again.

One more week later, many classmates will back home, why donnt sing it together? I will remember this remarkely summer.

My First Impressions of Canada

This is my first time to visit Canada, also, first time to North America, I have been here for 22 days now, during this very short period, it`s really pretty hard to express my feeling of this great country. I`d like to talk about several staffs what impressed me deeply.

First of all, it`s no doubt that the vist of  Royal Otario Museum (ROM) is overwhelming fantastic experience. I have looked around many different museum arranging from China mainland to Hongkong and Malaya as well as Thiland. Compare to those spots, ROM is the most attractive. I never saw any museum which can dispay so much exhibits before, but ROM dose realize it! This is a 3D encyclopaedia you can simply find anything you are interesting stuff about the whole universe defnitelly, all sorts of things are involved in the unblieveble building, species, anthropology, history, biology, art, you can find anything here. Apart from this, ROM is still a parodise of kids. In order to cultvate children`s interesting of  many devices are placed here and serve for children exclusive, it dose wokes, many girls and boys enjoy their funny trip, at same time, they obtain lots of fresh knowledges. New generation with good education is the cornerstone of dynamic Canada in the future.

Hanging out in ROM for almost a whole day, I was vibrated by the countless stuffes everysecond. I come to make sense these outline of Canada: diversity and tolerant, respect knowledge honestly, deem different civilization equally, anticrimination is a mainstream perspective.

Another point I`d like to talk is Canadian food. I don`t need to figure out how dramaticlly gap it is between Chinese and Canadian food, but when I share the tipically common supper with the host of my homestay where I live now, I cann`t help myself from surprising.  Cool, fast, high heat and  industrialization, these are characteristics of  average Canadian food. As long as I am cosidering, developed industry system can easily afford the houskeeping of common life, cook obviously is involved into this system, so Debbie, my hosetess, she has lots of option to mix together in order to prepare a nice supper, dressing, sauce, butter, cream, cheese, ham, chicken, fish and all kinds of ready-made products, anyway, you name it! Besides these stuff, also, there are many machions to assitant housewife washing dishes, cook soup, meat or rice, therefore, Debbie usually spend appoximatlly half an hour to cook the whole family`s dinner, soooooooo fast, compare to Chinese cooking! Efficiently housekeeping can liberate people`s hands from fussy labour, as a result, it is possible for them  to duild up a rich inteligient life with reading, thoughting and innovation with the rest of their time and energy which are substituded by mordern machions.

 All in all,  my journey in Canada is just beginning, as soon as step out of my comfort zone, everything become  unbelievable and don`t do it justice. So far, this is a amazing andcountry. I look forward to explore and discover more and more stimulating stuff, right here!

Hello everyone, I`m Shawn, come from ChengDu which is located in Southwest China with a 12 million population, many Canadian don`t know the city, but I`m sure lots of people know giant panda, the lovely bear with dark circle eyes, bingo, ChengDu is panda`s hometown.

Being separate from my family by Pacific, I have to contact my 4 years old daughter and wife everyday, there are 12 hours time difference between ChengDu and Welland, so every time in our phone chat, QiQi, my daughter keeps asking me curiously, "Is it morning or night in your city now, Dad?" a little bit difficult for her to understand how far between us. QiQI was born in April 2008, when she was just 12 days old baby, the fierce huge earthquake occurred in WenChuan where is an adjacent city of ChengDu, the unexpected disaster killed 100 thousands people in seconds, it`s very hard to forget the moment which bring us doomed feeling, thanks God, my families are alive, therefore, I realize life is short and fragile, that`s why I come study here, since my life span is limited, the only way to enhance it is explore and pursue its meaning, not only for myself, but also for QiQi and my wife.

It was a quite long time ago when I used to be a student, after working as a graphic designer for a decade, it`s time to have another option, I do really like small city`s life in Welland, the friendly community as well as the nice campus, so far, I also think the study atmosphere is pretty charming here compare to China. Now, being accompanied by teenagers, I feel I`m much younger, everyone is the age of their heart, I got it!

Generally, I feel good in Canada, I love Niagara College, I am looking forward the coming regular semester in September, it will obviously help me acquire some new skill to create my completely different life, besides this, it can also enrich my experience, as a result, I would be greatful to tell many new stories to my QiQi.
